The essentials

RoadTrace works without an account. Your trips — every position, speed and altitude the app records — are stored only on your device, in the app's own storage, and are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. Deleting a trip in the app deletes it; deleting the app deletes everything.

Location

The app asks for location access when you first press START, and uses it only while recording a trip (including with the screen off, if you leave a trip running). Location is processed on the device to build the trip. It is not sent to any server, not used for advertising, and not shared. You can revoke the permission at any time in iOS Settings; the app then cannot record, but keeps your saved trips.

What we do collect

Anonymous usage analytics: events such as "a trip was started", "a trip was stopped", its mode (drive, run, walk) and duration bucket, the shop being opened, the app version and language — attached to a random installation identifier the app generates itself. No name, no email, no phone number, no contacts, no advertising identifier, no precise or coarse location. These events are used solely to understand which parts of the app are used and to fix what breaks.

Feedback you send: if you use the feedback form in Settings, the text you type (and an email address only if you choose to add one) is sent to us so we can read it and reply.

Purchases

Coins and the Lifetime unlock are sold through Apple's App Store (StoreKit). Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details. The app stores only your coin balance and whether Lifetime is unlocked, on the device. Restore Purchases re-reads your entitlements from Apple.

Tracking, advertising, third parties

RoadTrace shows no advertising, contains no third-party SDKs, and does no tracking in the sense of Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework: nothing links your activity in this app with other apps or websites, and nothing is shared with data brokers. Anonymous analytics and feedback are stored on Google Firebase (Google Ireland Ltd.) acting as our infrastructure provider.

Retention and your rights

Trips: as long as you keep them, on your device. Anonymous analytics: retained in aggregate. Feedback: until handled, then deleted on request. Because we hold no account and no identity, we cannot look up "your" analytics; if you want your feedback deleted, write to us with the text you sent.

Children

RoadTrace is a utility for drivers, runners and walkers. It is not directed at children under 13 and knowingly collects no data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date.
